Times Square Shuffle
Last Hot Dog Before Home.
My sweetheart turned 50 in March. We have a baby photo of him and he's holding his head up and looking around like he doesn't want to miss anything. That hasn't changed.
Every time Bob and I talk about places we want to visit New York City comes up and we used this birthday and the coinciding Allman Brothers show as an excuse to make the big adventure.
After you've been married awhile, you realize that all the things that attracted you to your partner turn out to be the same things that drive you crazy. "He's so interesting and eclectic" turns into, "Omigod! Too many things, too many things."
I appreciate his wide variety of interests because he always manages to drag me to cool and wonderful things that I would never discover on my own. Left to my own devices I'd probably spend most of my trip eating and drinking and watching the people going into exhibits and attractions and but deciding to skip them because the lines look too long.
New York was non-stop, one adventure after the other and at least once a day I would whimper that I needed something to eat or preferably a nap. And he'd find us something to eat and promise the nap was coming. After just one more thing.
The whole trip was fantastic. Tons of great food. I loved walking around. Iconic landmarks everywhere. Particular favorite moments were taking the train to Coney Island. The minute the doors open it smells like fried food and we ate a Nathan's hot dog for breakfast. I also loved seeing the police woman on horseback tell the guy driving the 18 wheeler to get off her back (using much more colorful language than that) and then pulling him over. I also loved the walk through Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art which is where I think we should spend Bob's sabbatical.
New York photostream is here.
