Wildlife Playing

I guess I have to put the defogging stuff on the camera every day. This is a big commitment to bring you the quality urban wildlife footage you have come to expect.

Rocket in Motion

The camera takes 10 second clips — I trimmed these a little bit. Poor Rocket moves like a creaky old man.

Tante Irmgard lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment in Germany. One time when we were visiting her, her balcony was closed for some work that had taken an extended length of time.

While we were there the day of reopening came and she could finally open the door and go outside.

“Like Christmas!” she said.

That’s how I felt yesterday when we could open the windows and see outside again.

Unhealthy Hooray!

I spent half the morning figuring out how to do this. Enjoy!

I tried video last night. Didn’t capture any critters but the storm triggered the camera.

As soon as it started raining Bob jumped up and opened the windows and tore down the window coverings I’d tacked up.

My mood is 1000% better now that I can see outside again.

Still Socked In

This morning one of our smoke alarms went off. It’s one of those 10 year ones — you can’t remove the battery. We couldn’t get it to reset to we had to deactivate it.

The critter cam remains active. The night before last we had everybody running through. I think there might be 2 Pogos because I had opossum blurs in the same direction barely a minute a part.

Last night I managed to get three smiling faces in one shot.

I love how they like to climb on the bucket. I have lots of shots of them playing around the bucket.

I have one smaller container that I also fill with water and it is knocked over every night. I’ll post a photo of that another time.

Still Smoky After All These Years

It’s going to get better eventually, right?

How about a raccoon chaser?

Night before last the camera didn’t go off one single time. Last night this one little guy showed up early. Is this Heckle, Jeckle, or a new one?

Smoke on the Water

The air quality is actually worse today but can’t really tell from comparing this to yesterday’s photo.

I only went outside long enough to check the wildlife cam — nothing. The only photo is me checking the motion detector. I set everything back up and we’ll try again tonight. I’m not sure if the animals swap up their habits or the terrible air is doing something to the motion detector.

Another day spent inside with the shades drawn.

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes

This was the scene in the backyard around 7am.

I keep typo-ing smoke as smoake. Smoake is a good name for a monster or villain in a story that I am too scatterbrained to write at the moment.

The animal cam has been quiet. I had moved the camera closer to the house to try a different angle. I’m not sure if the animal activity changed with the strange weather or the camera set up wasn’t working.

I moved the camera back out towards the back fence and caught Rocket last night. That poor guy is looking scraggly.

Heckle and Jeckle played around the bucket at 3:30 and Pogo wandered by around 1:30 but the camera fogged up. I’m going to treat the lenses with Rain-X again and see if that helps.

Electric Garden

The cherry tomato has been the only super productive plant and it gives us enough for a taste at every meal plus some to bring to Dad.

Staying home more I have learned so much more appreciation for the garden.

Both Bob and I have gotten into the habit of sitting out there with a book. I’m getting more familiar with the individual sounds of the birds and their funny habits. I try to keep the birdbath refreshed for them.

It’s starting to wind down. I know there are potatoes but not 100% sure where they are located. A few carrots and beets.

A lot of Cucurbita.

Backyard Menagerie

The camera arrived on the 24th and I’ve had a couple of nights where the card went haywire or my camera positioning was doodoo. This is the cast of characters I’ve identified with some guessing.

(Seriously, this is one of the best toys I’ve ever gotten. I knew we had animal activity back there but no idea it was like this.)

This is Noah from next door.

Toes also from next door. There have been other cats that have shown up but were too far off for me to identify with certainty. I need one of those systems like on CSI where I can ENHANCE! ENHANCE FURTHER!

This is Pogo. I’ve only gotten him on camera a couple of times.

This is Mama. I am not clear whether she has been back through. I haven’t identified her in any of the other photos.

Here’s Heckle and Jeckle again. They’ve shown up several nights but not always close to the camera. I need to start a spreadsheet with the dates and times and who shows up. You know, for science.

And this is Rocket. He’s kind-of beat up looking. Poor old guy.
