Last visit we caught the tail end of the party and this time we woke up early and took the Ubahn and headed straight for the beer hall. This is a tradition of partying all night (which we didn't do) and then heading for the Fischmarkt to wrap up. We wormed our way into a bachelor party (another tradition, we also met a bachelorette party who came up from Munich just for this event - kind of like going to Vegas for us) and I made lots of new friends and danced around very happy to the bizarre American Top-40 covers like Elton John and John Denver. Bob says, ahem, that any ground I might have gained after the puppet show incident has now been canceled out.
Nothing like drinking before Noon to make for a challenging day. And instead of what I bet is the traditional all day nap, we instead got to visit with numerous English as a second language people. But we ralley-ed.
On Tuesday we did a day trip to the World Fair (Expo 2000) in Hanover and if you like standing in line and being herded around in exhibits that are pretty much all the same (big media shows with soaring soundtracks and images of water, crops, children and globes) then this is the place for you. Were glad we went, but also glad we didnt budget more than one day.
Today we started in Hamburg at Noon (so, about 3am PDT) and took a series of bumpy flights and waited an intolerably long time for luggage, and now were home and Im hoping I can wind down and get some sleep as I intend to go to work tomorrow.
So this is it for the PamTravel Reports. I'll put my emails up on my webpage. If you've sent me email lately, I'll get to it this weekend. (URL below) at some point in the future, with photographs.
seeya,
Pam
